Adult Video On Demand Is All The Rage

... et spectateurs #2
Source: Flickr

Adult movies on demand are proving to be a fast, convenient resource for men and women to visualize their most wild, steamy horny fetish filled fantasies.
But this does not come without some criticism. Since the beginning of the internet era there has been much criticism and concern about young people, including teens and children, who might able to access these materials which are in most cases intended for adult audiences only, in fact, it is illegal to target minors with pornographic materials and the consequences are quite serious should one or ones company get busted for featuring minors in any of their porno materials or get in trouble for featuring materials that cater or target people younger than 18 years of age.

VOD otherwise known as adult video on demand is also not approved of by most religious groups. It is considered sinful by most religious groups to masturbate yet alone indulge in the saucy pleasures of adult videos on demand. Adult entertainment pornographic films are a safer alternative to sex though, and while the church also discourages sex before people are happily married, it does not make much more sense for them to discourage masturbation and porn because these might prevent people from doing the hardcore sin, in the churches opinion, of people engaging in pre marital relations. Pre marital relations to most religious folk would include anything outside the range of hugging and kissing.

Realistically, once the teenage years roll around it is difficult for parents to monitor their online behavior let alone sexual behavior outside the house. For adults however, accessing porno chicks and dudes performing an array of sexual acrobatics is as easy as walking to refrigerator and grabbing a beer. There are tons of adult videos on demand to choose from, also classified as adult vod and might include fetish films from bathroom cameras to locker room cameras and other voyeuristic scenarios. Some men and women really enjoy watching flicks with a variety of interesting sex scenarios like role play and women dressed as teachers or medical practitioners.

Besides religious objections to people using pornography as a tool for masturbation or simply as inspiring art, spouses or those in relationships with people who like to use porn for the aforementioned reasons may also object. Adult vod is accessible and easy and might be more erotic to mates in stale relationships, or those seeking thrills without necessarily wanting to venture too far from home.

The busiest season in Munich is between October and May so be sure to book any accommodation well in advance. There are types of accommodation for all from hotels to bed and breakfasts, inns, hostels and campsites.

History
Over the years since Munich was first founded in the 12th century, it has grown in the reputation of being both cultural and artistic. National Socialism developed in Munich following the First World War. The city then got struck heavily during World War Two and has since had the damage repaired and had become a modern metropolis.

Sights and Attractions
Munich’s old town (known as the Altstadt) is a popular sightseeing attraction. Stroll through it towards the beautiful square (Marienplatz) and through the lanes that contain some impressive cultural and historic features. The Westend of Munich is a much more modern experience. This is the area where the Oktoberfest is held and is a great laugh for any party enthusiasts. Schwabing is home to Europe’s largest park where there is plenty to do and see.

Shopping in Munich
Munich has excellent shopping opportunities where you can pick up a variety of designer goods as well as traditional Bavarian handicrafts. There are piles of shopping malls and areas all over the city so you will never find yourself wanting more.

Making A Large Home Brew Tips

Oxbow Collaboration Part 1
Source: Flickr

If you already brew at home, whether that be beer, ice tea or coffee, for instance, then you obviously already know how the process goes.
However typically people make smaller brews, and so if you are planning on making a large home brew, then there are several pointers that you are absolutely going to want to take into consideration.

Things To Think About Before You Make A Large Home Brew

The first thing that you are going to want to think about when you are planning on making a large home brew is the fact that it is going to take a lot more time, effort and money. So if you do not have a lot extra of all of these, then perhaps you should just reconsider.

Most people only plan on making a large home brew if they are having a lot of people over or if they are planning to store most of the brew away so that they can use it in the future, and both of these reasons are acceptable. For any other reasons you would probably be best just to stick with making smaller more frequent brews.

Another thing that you are going to want to think about before making a large home brew is the fact of whether you have the space to do it. After all, you can quite easily make a small home brew right in a tiny kitchen, however when it comes to a larger one you may have difficulty if you do not have enough room for everything.

After all you are going to need more room in the fridge, in the sink and on the countertop in general, and you certainly do not want to get started first and then realize that unfortunately you do not have enough room for everything and that you are thus in big trouble.

There are basically two options that you have here: either you should stick to making smaller brews so that you have more free space to work with, or find a friend or family member’s home during those one or two times that you need to make an especially large brew.

Besides that, you really should have no problems, and just make sure that you are as informed and knowledgeable on this topic in general as you can be before you get started, so that you can come out with the best results you possibly can overall.

Super Bowl Advertising And Marketing For Perfection

Lazy Hiker Brewing Co
Source: Flickr

The game kicks off in about one hour and we have already seen some of the high-priced ads. Here are my comments on how the big guys do it.

#1. Pepsi. Pepsi has an outside-the-box ad. The ad is done by two deaf guys trying to find out where Bob’s house is. It is done completely in sign with sub-titles. This is a first. We will see if this is labeled “offensive” even if the National Association of the Deaf approved it.

#2. Budweiser. A perennial mainstay. Wouldn’t be a Super Bowl without Bud and all of their commercials.

#3. Miller Lite. Bud’s main competition that seems to always be poking fun at Bud.

#4. GoDaddy. GoDaddy is always controversial which gets them the most publicity. You may see racier ads at their web site.

#5. P&G. Proctor and Gamble will air its first ever Super Bowl commercial featuring Tide.

#6. Vitoria’s Secret. Marketing lingerie with hot chicks to guys makes sense to me.

There are more and I will post another article after the game.

Some comments in general.

Sex, humor, and music still sell. Well, it sells to a primarily male audience.

More companies are linking their TV ads to their web site.

Companies can get away with more on their web site. FCC rules don’t apply.

If it worked before, use it again.

Stars give credibility (to an extent).

Market to your audience (in this case, mainly males).

This is the only show that people actually wait in anticipation for the commercials.

Pepsi has coined a new term – different abilities – as opposed to disabled or challenged.

30 seconds cost almost three million, but these ads will be all over the Internet forever for free. Some ads are already at YouTube before the game started.

Marketing to 90 million people would be considered by most to be the greatest opportunity to get your product noticed. We will see who makes it big with the best Super Bowl ads.

OK. It is almost game time. I’ve got my sandwich, chips and dip, cold beer, and some cashews. I will be cheering for the New York Football Giants since I love an underdog.

Use the power of Super Bowl advertising to get some ideas on how to market your web site. Hopefully, for a lot less than 3 million dollars for ½ minute.

Memories Of Disneyland Paris

Drenshed
Source: Flickr

The harness forced me rigid in my seat. The pressure across my chest momentarily took my breath away. Fixed in position the only things I could move were my hands and feet. My heart raced at least twice its normal rate as we inched towards the starting point.

Anxiety began to swell inside me; I could feel my stomach turning. A deep fear within was urging me to escape and free myself from this unknown. As apprehension hit the zenith, loud rock music started blasting from two speakers concealed either side of the headrest.

White smoke normally reserved for nightclubs began to fill the arena. The only illumination was from disco lights perched above and beside the track, the only clue as to where you were heading.

As the mechanism took up the slack and prepared to slingshot us into next week, my backside began to twitch as I realised we had gone past the point of no return. The coaster was now primed and nothing was going to stop it.

Then it happened. Without warning we accelerated with such ferocity your cheeks were sucked through your skull. It was impossible to raise your head to see where you were going. Not that it made any difference, smoke was everywhere and visibility was zero.

It seemed to be over in seconds. It was the best ride I had ever been on. I wanted to go straight back on but there was the whole of Disneyland Paris to explore and time was money. But I would return to the Aerosmith rollercoaster.

Perhaps what surprised me most about Disneyland Resort Paris was how much there was for adults. I went with the expectation of a child oriented theme park with little time for grownups. But Disney Village is superb, full of bars and restaurants, shops and even a cinema. The only downside is the sheer volume of tourists. Even out of season you can expect to queue endlessly for food and drink.

The Cheyenne hotel is a throwback to the days of the American Wild West. Suitably decorated, it offered all the taste and flavour of cowboys and indians. The saloon bar feels altogether authentic; country and western singers provide the entertainment as you down another bottle of beer.

If you can avoid the likes of Goofy and Mickey Mouse, you may just be able to suspend reality long enough to believe yourself in the world of Wyatt Earp.

A Man & A Woman Stranded On A Deserted Island

Suwanee Beer Fest 2017-6349
Source: Flickr

Imagine the scene, a man & a woman stranded on a desert island with the sun beating down, and you did it on purpose!
!

Such was the joy of a vacation to a place called Los Roques Venezuela. It is almost like a Pacific atoll, except it is at the bottom end of the Caribbean Sea, some 80 miles north of Caracas, and easily reached by plane, where you land on Gran Roque, which is where we stayed in a Posada.

For the uninitiated a Posada is a converted house or cottage, which takes paying guests in varying degrees of luxury at a corresponding price.

My wife and I chose the Posada Natura Viva, a very Italian Mediterranean Posada, right next to the beach. We chose it because of recommendation that we pick an Italian owned Posada as opposed to a locally owned one.

I have however diverted from the purpose of this account which is of course a Man & Woman stranded on a Desert Island with the sun beating down on us. In truth it was arranged by the aforementioned Posada Natura Viva, and so far as the sun beating down, they also supplied us with beach umbrellas, table and chairs, gazebos and beach towels.

Just close your eyes, and imagine a tiny spit of an island no more than 50 paces wide, one hundred paces long, in fact smaller than my garden at home. Imagine warm clear turquoise water, where you could sit in it like it was a bath, and drink a cool beer, feeling it was your own private island

I suspect they are some of the most important things to take if you are to be stranded on a desert island, even if was only for a day!! I should add the Posada also supplied a packed lunch, thermos with cool drinks, even if we did have to bring our own beers!!

Anyway this I suspect is what the Caribbean was like before us tourists arrived in our thousands.

It was fortunate we remembered our sunblock and high factor sun creams because apart from the shade that was supplied for us, there is none at all.

This has to be one of the most beautiful places on this earth, in fact it’s almost like a dream, why not go and see it for yourself, and become the Man & Woman stranded on a Desert Island for a day!!

Professional Travel Health Advice

Virgin Trains (Rudgate Brewery) Hop On Board
Source: Flickr

The best Professional Travel Health Advice about food and drink on holiday, can easily be summarised as follows

1. The first thing to realise is that unpasteurised milk, non bottled drinks , and uncooked food, are likely to be contaminated and therefore possibly unsafe. This does not include fruit which can be peeled.

2. Use bottled or boiled water for cleaning your teeth.

3. Don’t open your mouth and drink water in the shower.

4. Dishes containing raw or undercooked eggs, such as home-made mayonnaise, some sauces (e.g. hollandaise) and some desserts (e.g. mousses), are not a good idea.

5. Ice-cream that doesn’t have a recognisable international brand name, and could be made locally, is often contaminated and could be a danger.

6. When confronted with cooked food, the holidaymaker should ensure that it has been thoroughly and freshly cooked; i.e. that it is piping hot.

7. Be aware of eating out the day after a public holiday, as reheated food appears, and it can be dangerous.

8. Foods that are cooked in advance need to be held at a temperature of below 10 C or above 60 C to ensure their safety.

9.Cooked food left out for some time constitutes one of the greatest risks of food borne disease. Contaminating or surviving bacteria may multiply in it if it is. Put another way, if the food has been cooked but not refrigerated between cooking and serving, because it has been left out, then you could be taking a risk eating it. This means attractive cold buffets are very definitely unsafe if they have been laid out hours before being eaten.

10. Unpasteurised milk should be boiled before it is drunk. 11. Bottles of drinking water that contain non carbonated water should be regarded with suspicion, unless you see the seal broken in front of you, because it could be straight from the TAP!!

12. Ice should be avoided unless made from safe water.

13. Drinks such as wine or beer hot tea or coffee, and carbonated soft drinks or fruit juices that are bottled or otherwise packaged are usually safe to drink.

14. Apply strict hygiene while away especially after using the bathroom and before you eat food – never use communal, damp towels in public conveniences! Use disposable paper towels or hot air.

Health Benefits And Disadvantages Of Alcohol

Church Bar Sat 25th March 2017 (68 of 77)
Source: Flickr

As confusing as it may seem, in small quantities, alcohol can be benefic for health. But excess can produce so much damage, that any trace of a benefit is erased. Moderate use of alcohol includes two drinks for a man and only one for a woman per day, under the age of 65. Together with his doctor, a person will establish whether to enjoy a glass of wine or a beer, or this can seriously affect health.

In small quantities, the following benefits can result from alcohol:

– It decreases the risk of cardiovascular problems
– Decreases the possibility of lethal heart attack
– Sometimes, alcohol reduces the possibility of ischemic or other kind of strokes
– Diminishes the possibility of gallstone
– It may reduce the diabetes danger

In large quantities, or in excess, the consequences may be terrible:

– The pancreas, the mouth, pharynx, esophageal, breast and liver are more likely to be affected by cancer
– Pancreatitis may appear, especially in youth
– Stroke
– Atrophy of the brain
– Cirrhosis
– Pregnancy problems, like spontaneous abortion
– Possible malformations and other birth problems of the fetus
– Car accidents
– Suicidal tendencies
– Sudden death in case of cardiovascular problems
– Cardiophaty generated by alcohol

There are certain diseases that forbid the affected person to drink at all, such as:

– Conditions of the liver
– Affection of the pancreas
– Precancerous stages affecting the digestive system
– A record including a previous hemorrhagic stroke

Pregnant women or people whose family has an alcohol related background must be extremely cautious and, if possible, not to drink at all.

One drink each day is permitted to persons over 65 years, because in their case, a higher consume is more dangerous; the process of absorption needs more time, the effects are stronger, and the risk of intoxication is a real one.

Alcohol must not be used during the following medications’ administration:

– Anticoagulants
– Medication for diabetes
– Beta blockers
– Antihistamines
– Antibiotics
– Antidepressants
– Pain relievers
– Sleeping pills

Alcohol should not interfere with medication at all, because in combination to aspirin increases its stomach damaging action and the possibility of gastrointestinal hemorrhage, if combined with acetamine damages the liver.

Both he positive effects of a reduced quantity and the dangerous, negative ones must be taken into consideration. Also, a person shouldn’t be influenced to drink, because no doctor will give such piece of advice. Consumed with responsibility and moderation, in case of healthy persons, the alcohol doesn’t need to be completely eliminated.

The History Of Billiards

GOD BLESS AMERICA
Source: Flickr

The modern incarnation of billiards may look something like this: Walking through a smoke-filled bar to reach a room crammed with pool tables and filled with even denser smoke. The rather unsavory crowd barely acknowledges your presence, and you wonder once again why billiards has for so long been called the “noble game?

Although your local billiards hall may not look like a gathering of royalty, the
billiards games of yesteryear did. As long ago as the 1600s there are records of billiards being played by British royalty, though the game barely resembled what is played today. Billiards, which moved from a popular lawn game to its final indoor model, was mentioned in William Shakespeare’s play Antony and Cleopatra.

After the industrial revolution provided better game equipment in the 1800s, billiards began to make its way into the USA. The term “English” that is used in reference to the spin put on a ball was a term used by the Americans at the time who observed the way the English shot the ball and mastered the game. There are a few reports of the game being played in the USA long before the 1800s. Some reports indicate St. Augustine brought the game in 1580 and others state that George Washington won a game around 1748. However it was not until the 1800s that parlors opened with billiards being the central activity.

The popularity of billiards in the United States was perhaps enhanced most by Michael Phelan. He created a standardized set of rules, and through his long beloved newspaper column, he created the demand for the new sport. Phelan and his colleagues eventually formed the Brunswick-Balke-Collender Company which controlled the form, design, and expansion of the game of billiards in the USA.

So, the next time you descend into your local pool hall or the latest billiards tournament in the local bowling alley, don’t forget to honor the noble history of billiards. Remember that the game you just won has added to the illustrious history of billiards, or that the game you just lost was similarly lost by much more accomplished people than you–in a different era. Kings and Presidents have similarly won and lost at billiards, though they probably were able to drown their sorrows with something better than cheap beer and mozzarella sticks. Have a swig in memory of the royal history of the “noble game.”

Watch it live, not on TV

DSC_0766
Source: Flickr

There are many who resign to fate and settle down on their couch with a glass of beer to watch their home team Chicago Cubs fight against the Pittsburgh Pirates. They would not even want to take the chance of trying for tickets, knowing there is bound to be none available. When Arizona Diamondbacks played against San Diego Padres, the tickets were easily available across town, and it was fun watching the match from the stands. Cheering along, rooting for the teams, the adrelin kick and fun was jus amazing, and it would be wonderful if that was possible with every match.

Luck is what we say when our friend gets tickets to Texas Rangers or Cincinnati Reds, but if they had to sit it out and watch Colorado Rockies vying for the championship with Seattle Mariners. The pleasure of watching anything live is something that one needs to experience at least once in their lifetime. The sheer joy and rush we get every time the batter hits a home run or attacks with vengeance is phenomenal.

Getting close to the players, a chance to watch how they bat or pitch as it happens is something no one will want to miss. Watching on TV is also fun, but it is not the same as watching it live. Sitting in the comfort of our home, with friends or family around us adds to enjoyment; however it sure does not replace the thrill of the other option. There are people who try to book tickets months in advance once they get a whiff of where their team is playing. But luck might play against them, and so if they were to get a membership with ticketsamerica.com, they are assured of tickets.

Concerts, theatre, sports, and some more, every possible event is covered by our site. Tickets are readily available provided due notice is given, and they will be home delivered. No stress, no tension, and no worries. Swipe your credit card on the net and voila, your tickets are booked. You could choose the dates when you wish to watch the match, or if you want to go for all the Kansas City Royals matches only.

Some corporates might want to do bulk booking, in which case they would get a discount on the tickets booked. It is like online shopping, choose the teams, the dates, tickets and add to cart.

Striving To Be The Best Running Back Ever

BOISSON :Tourtel
Source: Flickr

There are many National Football League players who play the position of running back quite well, but in my opinion, the best running back there is in the NFL is Jim Brown. Jim Brown played for the Cleveland Browns from 1957 to 1965. He was an extremely powerful runner, and he also had great speed and agility, which enabled him to break away from the pack effortlessly, while being tackled. Due to his great accomplishments in the NFL, in 1971 Jim Brown was inducted into the pro football hall of fame.

Despite the fact that I feel Jim Brown is the best running back so far, there is an emerging running back who may just give him a run for the title of the best of all time. This great new NFL running back is L.T, better known as LaDainian Tomlinson, who currently plays for the San Diego Chargers. He is proving to be a promising young, new player, yet before he actually gets to be named the best of all time, he will have to surpass players like Walter Payton and Emmitt Smith. These two players were two of the best running backs that have ever played in pro football. Walter was a runner who ran with a great deal of finesse, and the speed of a cheetah. When he broke loose from the pack, he was gone, and no other player could ever catch him.

Emmitt Smith was more of a powerful runner, and he had speed as well. L.T. is proving to everyone that he, too, possesses these talents. Ladainian Tomlinson is well on his way, but he still has a long way to go to play like Jim Brown, Emmitt Smith, or even Walter Payton. It takes lots of training and experience to be a running back, much less, the greatest of all time.

Running backs must train on a regular basis to keep their bodies in shape, on and off season. If they lay around, drinking beer and loading up on junk food while football season is over, then there is no way that they would be able to get back into shape in time for the season to begin. These specialized players must be very dedicated and disciplined, taking the time to eat the proper foods, get a sufficient amount of rest, as well as workout at least once a day.

Choosing Wine on a First Date

mmmm....beer
Source: Flickr

First dates are nerve wracking enough without having to worry about what wine to choose to impress your new friend!

One of the great things about wine on a date is that one bottle is a defined amount, normally about five glasses. If shared equally it is unlikely that you will fall off your chair drunk after half a bottle of wine!

However, there are some other social sins that can be committed whilst choosing wine on a date.

Getting Started

First, you need to decide whether you want white, red, rosé or sparkling wine. This is perhaps the most important decision. As a general rule, red wine is more of an acquired taste and it can be harder to select a good red. Therefore, when you do not know your companion’s tastes it may be wise to steer clear of the red wine section.

Sparkling wine can make you appear a little pretentious or if you go for a cheaper version, a tightwad; so this is usually best avoided. If you are not sure whether your companion likes wine at all, rosé wine is often a safe option as it often lacks the sharpness that people commonly dislike in wines.

How Much to Spend?

Remember more money doesn’t always mean more quality. If you are very new to wine, go for a house white. A house white is unlikely to be extremely imaginative or unusual, but is almost always perfectly drinkable. For this reason it is a safe, middle of the road option.

If you want to impress, look for something other than the house white. Keep away from extremes until you know your companion a little better, so don’t go for bone dry whites. Instead, opt for a fruity dry wine that appeals to those who like both dry and medium whites.

Whilst neutral wines may seem like a bit of a cop-out, bear in mind that you simply want a drinkable wine that does not offend.

If you are really not sure what to choose, why not offer your companion a choice of glasses as an aperitif while you have a beer or spirit. This way you can judge your companion’s taste. Even if they select a spirit, you can still get a measure of whether they prefer sweet or dry wines.

Of course, you could always give your companion the choice…

Grunion Runs – Fishing With Your Hands In San Diego

Grunion Runs – Fishing With Your Hands In San Diego

Paulaner Salvator
Source: Flickr

Fishing is peaceful and inspiring sport regardless of the type of fishing your doing.
Well, with one exception – grunion runs.

El Grunionino

Throughout the year, the fish known as the grunion run in San Diego and much of California. This little silver fish reproduces by “running” up the beach during the high tide in the middle of the night. Literally thousands of the fish simply come storming up the beach with the waves to lay their eggs in the wet sand. It kind of looks like the beginning of a triathalon except the participants are going the wrong way and are pregnant.

The fish picked up their name from Spanish settlers because of, well, the grunting noise the make when doing their thing. It is a bit saucy now that I think about it. Anyway, the grunion averages five inches in length and has a silvery hue that shows in the moonlight. With thousands in the water, it looks like the a really fat person wearing way to many sequins while dancing to disco music.

You’re Inner Barbarian

“Fishing” for grunion requires you to get in touch with your inner barbarian. Under California law, you are not allowed to use bait, hooks, poles, nets or anything. Instead, you must physically catch the grunion with your hands. This, of course, results in you and others running around the beach like a crab while trying to snatch the grunions. They are exceedingly quick and slippery. You’ll be huffing and puffing before you know it.

Grunion are an extremely plentiful fish, but there are still rules to follow. As mentioned above, you have to go mano-a-fisho. No poles, nets or other items can be used. Second, you have to get a fishing license from the California Department of Fish and Game. Third, you can only go grunion hunting from May to September, the legal season in the area.

If you think getting in touch with your inner fishing barbarian sounds like a good time, here is the scoop on good spots. In San Diego, you should hit the beaches in Del Mar, La Jolla, Mission Beach or in front of the Hotel Del Coronado. These are all high end areas, which means the grunion must have excellent taste.

Running around the beach like a madman can be tiring. Bringing along fluids [okay, beer] is highly recommended.

Recipe: how to select and prepare shrimp

Stadium Steakhouse

Shrimp
Never overcook shrimp. An easy way thing to remember when cooking shrimp is to use the "C-O Method". When boiled or steamed, shrimp are cooked when they curl to form the letter "C". Shrimp are overcooked when they curl to form the letter "O". Over-cooked shrimp are tough and rubbery.

Here is a guideline to help you choose which variety to buy:

Tiger Shrimp – Mild flavor, with a sweet taste and a crunchy texture.

White Shrimp – Mild flavor, with a slightly salty, shrimpy taste and firm texture. Great for salads and stir-fry.

Pink Shrimp – Mild to medium flavor, with a medium texture. Perfect for shrimp cocktail.

Brown Shrimp – Full, robust flavor, with medium texture. Best when used for full-flavor dishes like gumbo or for frying.

Deep-Fry Shrimp – preheat (canola, vegetable or peanut) oil to 375 degrees F. Carefully place a small amount of breaded or battered shrimp in cooker. Fry shrimp 2 to 3 minutes, depending on size of shrimp, until golden brown outside and opaque in the center.

Stir-Fry or Saute Shrimp – preheat saute pan over medium-high heat. Add butter, margarine, olive oil or flavored cooking oil. Any combination may also be used. Carefully place shrimp in pan. Stir-fry large shrimp for 3 to 4 minutes; medium 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 minutes and small/bay 2 to 2-1/2 minutes.

Grill or Broil Shrimp – Skewer peeled shrimp in a "horseshoe" fashion. That is, thread the shrimp onto the skewer at its large base, then at its tail so it curves around in a U-shape. Marinate, if desired. Place 4 inches above a preheated gas grill or charcoal grill at 375 degrees. To broil, place shrimp 4 inches under a heat source (leave oven slightly open when using an electric range). Grill or broil extra jumbo shrimp for 6 minutes, jumbo for 5 minutes, extra large for 4 minutes and large for 3 minutes. Baste with oil or marinade. Turn once halfway during the cooking process.

Boiled Shrimp – To get the best out of boiled shrimp, add a can of beer to the boiling water. Refrigerate on ice after boiling. Dip cooled shrimp in a tantalizing shrimp sauce made of ketchup and horseradish. How sharp you like it depends on amount of horseradish you add.

Funny gifts, relationships and pranks

Church Bar Sat 18th March 2017 (93 of 133)

Make a surprise to people you love, give them a funny gift, you will be appreciated if you could bring a smile on their faces.
Or make a prank to people you don’t like just to give them a real motive to dislike you even more.
Yeah, you will not be likeable more but you’ll be know. Practical jokes and pranks are know to tide up relationships -they only destroy relationships with the people know for the lack in sense of humour.
But, if you could’ t appreciate say a itching powder them why to be my friend? I don’t enjoy people who can’t laugh!
Just wonder if is worth to have a friend who will be angry with you just because you say “no” when you should said “yes”…a pitiful excuse to end a friendship!
So, people around the world, make pranks even you are the only to enjoy them…is better to have 1-2 friends, really friends, the kind who can laugh and enjoy a practical joke then to have a bunch of stuffy friends.
Your friends are not you bussines partener so you must enjoy their company, to laught with them – the general word is to have fun.
I recommend the fallowing jokes for greenhorns: hot tooth-picks, foaming sugar or Shocking Lighter. Choose a prank with attention, you don’t ant to insult anyone just to have fun. My preffered prank: toilet monster. Your wife will never yell at you about leaving the seat up again! This toilet monster is shocking and funny! He attaches to the inside of the toilet bowl by suction cups. As the unsuspecting person goes to use the bathroom, they’ll scream as they lift the lid and are greeted by the toilet monster!
I also like covert clicker who can control the TV anywhere, any time! This prank will make you laugh out loud just thinking about it. Close your eyes and picture a crowded sports bar on Super Bowl Sunday, or perhaps Game 7 of the World Series. Imagine all the fans draped in oversized sports jerseys clutching a beer and screaming at the TV. With seconds left on the clock – CLICK! – the TV channel changes to the Home and Garden Television network!
So, enjoy your friends, make pranks, be a child again and you will understand what you missed till now.

Recipe: swaggie’s lamb shanks

Lesly
Source: Flickr

Swaggie’s Lamb Shanks
A swaggie (swagman) is someone who carries a swag (all his worldly possessions) on his back and roams around the country on foot, living off his earnings, doing odd jobs here and there, and from gifts of money and food. This inexpensive cut of lamb is one a swaggie might be given and is a real treat when cooked this way and served sitting around a campfire under the stars in the Australian bush. It is more likely, though, that a swaggie would use beer rather than wine. This tastes better when cooked in a camp oven (a heavy cast iron pot with a lid) over an open fire and then finished, clamped in a grill (broil) rack, over the coals until the outsides are crisp and golden. You will need to begin making this dish two days ahead of serving.

6 lamb shanks
1 carrot, peeled and sliced
1 onion, diced
1 celery stalk, diced
3 fresh parsley sprigs
3 fresh thyme sprigs
1 head garlic, cut in half across the cloves
1 (2 inch long) piece ginger root, peeled and sliced
6 peppercorns
1/2 cup peanut oil or vegetable oil
1 bottle red wine

Arrange the shanks in a large, shallow baking dish. Scatter the vegetables, herbs, garlic, ginger root and peppercorns over the top. Pour in the oil and the wine. Turn the shanks over in the marinade to coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Position a rack in the center of the oven and preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Transfer the shanks to a cast iron Dutch oven with a lid and pour the marinade evenly over the top. Cover and bake in the center of the oven until fork tender, about 2 hours. During cooking, turn the shanks over from time to time. Remove from the oven and let cool, then refrigerate overnight in the marinade.

Drain the shanks over a pot, catching the marinade. Place the marinade over medium-high heat and cook until reduced to a good coating consistency. Arrange the shanks on a griller (broiler) tray and slip under the broiler. Broil until glazed and crisp, about 5 minutes, then turn and grill until glazed and crisp on the second side and heated through, 2 to 3 minutes longer.

Serve the shanks at once with the reduced sauce spooned around them.

Serves 6.

Disease Of The Rich – Gout

march-2017 - 48
Source: Flickr

This is the ‘kings’ disease’ as it affects the affluent. It is a type of arthritis that affects the toe, knee and other joints. Your kidneys lose their ability to flush out the excess amounts of uric acid, partially. This uric acid crystallizes and lodges in the joints, thus causing joint pain. This joint gets hot, swollen and tender. This pain usually starts in the middle of the night and can last for hours and days at a stretch. But it can vanish quite quickly.

The following are some of the simple home remedies that you can take to prevent the gout infection:

• Lose weight slowly: People suffering from gout are usually overweight with their body weight about 10 to 15 percent overweight. More your girth, higher your uric acid level. The higher incidence of the uric acid leads to frequent and intense gout attacks. But take care that you should lose weight slowly as crash diet leads to increase in uric acid levels.

• Control the blood pressure: Gout patients who also suffer from hypertension need to be extra careful. This is because the blood pressure medications raise the levels of uric acid. Hence it is advisable to control the blood pressure naturally by lowering the intake of the sodium, exercising regularly, reducing the excess weight and eliminating stress.

• Skip liver: Certain foods contain purine that raise uric acid levels. Though it is found in most foods, it is advisable to skip certain foods like red meat especially organ meats, liver, certain types of fish and some green leafy vegetables like spinach.

• Stop the drink: If you are suffering from gout, avoid alcohol. This is because alcohol stimulates the production of uric acid. Beer is the main culprit as it has higher purine content than the other wines or spirits.

• Go heavy on water: Drinking lots of water will help kidneys flush out the excess uric acid. Dehydration is also known to trigger gout attack. You can increase the urinary output by drinking at least five glasses of water a day.

• Improve your sex life: It has been found that if you are a man, having frequent sexual activity reduces the levels of uric acid.

• Take care of your feet: If you increase your big toe, you run the risk of gout attack. Wear shoes around the house and protect the feet from the daily accidents.

Nightlife Guide: Madrid

MIAturns2-19
Source: Flickr

The nightlife in Madrid is the real reason the city is so popular with young people. During the day the city can be a little dry- with all the museums, parks, etc. Most nightlife gets going really late compared to that in the States. Here are a couple recommendations:

Go to a Flamenco dinner show

A Flamenco dinner show is a great cultural nighttime option. If you are traveling to the South of Spain, particularly Granada or Seville, it’s best to find a Flamenco show in these cities. It will undoubtedly be cheaper and more authentic. However, Flamenco shows in Madrid are still a good option if you won’t be traveling outside of the capital.

Try a few tapas bars

A tapas crawl can be fun if you find the right places. Avoid some of the tourist traps in the Sol area, which are overpriced. Ask your hotel for suggestions. Vinoteca, in Plaza Santa Ana, is a one good option.

Check out some of Madrid’s big night clubs

Madrid’s night clubs are a fun experience. None card, and as long as you look about 18, you won’t have any problems getting in. Try Kapitol, across from metro stop Atocha, and Palacio Real (near Sol). Kapitol claims to be the biggest club in Europe. Both charge a cover of 12-15 euros and get busy at around 2 AM.

Hit the bars:

Madrid is full of good bars. Some of the best bars for young people are in the Moncloa, Tribunal, Bilbao, and Malasana neighborhoods. Here are a couple of bars that are normally flooded with American and Spanish college students, as well as others:

o El Chapandaz, “The cave bar” – (Calle Fernando El Catolico 77, Moncloa) Cool looking bar decorated like a cave. Some drinks are poured from a tap in the form of a rock formation hanging down from the ceiling. Good Thurs. through Sat.

o Casa de la Cerveza (Metro Bilbao) – This bar is normally packed on off nights because of its all-you-can-drink for 10 euro deal (from 11-1:30 I believe). You can try Sangria, beer, or red wine and coke (called calimocho- popular with the young Spanish crowd).

Note: Avoid the bars that promote around the Sol area. Some of the Irish bars are OK, as are many of the bars located in underground caves.

Spring Break On South Padre Island

%image_alt%
Source: Flickr

South Padre Island is a great place to vacation over Spring Break, especially for College students.
Besides offering the usual spring break vacation fare of sand, sun, and fun (of course that’s a reference to wild late night partying, beer, wet tshirt contents and the hook up), South Padre Island offers a number of other activities to occupy your time and entertain you during your spring break vacation.

Fishing – South Padre Island has gained a world wide reputation among fishermen. Half day and full day fishing trips in the Laguna Madre Bay and the Gulf of Mexico run for less than $20 to $1000 or more depending on your skills, the distance you want to travel (how far offshore) and your lifestyle demands. Since you are fishing a gulf and not your area lake, the list of the type of fish you can catch is long but a few would be: whiting, drum, flounder, trout, redfish, kingfish, wahoo, tuna, marlin and sailfish.

Windsurfing – Spring Break is obviously during spring time which for windsurfers plying their trade at South Padre Island is the best time with spring’s windy days. Known as one of the top windsurfing destinations in the world, South Padre Island offers some of the fastest windsurfing speeds in North America at places like, the bay, the Jetties, Bocas Chica, and the Ditch.

Kiteboarding – College spring breakers have never shied away from a challenge and kiteboarding is just that. One of the fasting growing and certainly hottest sports going, kiteboarding is challenging and adrenaline pumping and South Padre Island with consistent winds that offer beginner to experts near perfect flat-water conditions, is a great place to hone your kiteboarding skills.

Matamoros, Mexico – What’s a vacation without souvenirs? Bargain shop across the border at American friendly, Matamoros, Mexico. You will find silver, leather goods, handicrafts and much more while strolling through this old Mexican town and it’s busy markets. Dine on authentic Mexican food, enjoy museums and the culture of Mexico, just thirty minutes from South Padre Island.

While this is not a complete list of things to do during your spring break vacation on South Padre Island, hopefully it got you thinking of making your trip a bit more adventurous and thus your memories of spring break at South Padre Island that much more special.

Bitter Melon – Benefits, Medicinal Properties

Audio-feira-artesanal-beer-food-12-3-17-by-Leandro-godoi (74)

Bitter Melon is reported to help in the treatment of diabetes and psoriasis.
It has also been reported that Bitter Melon may help in the treatment of HIV. Bitter Melon is the English name of Momordica charantia. Bitter Melon is also known by the names Karela and Balsam Pear. Bitter Melon grows in tropical areas, including parts of East Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and South America, where it is used as a food as well as a medicine. It is a green cucumber shaped fruit with gourd-like bumps all over it. It looks like an ugly, light green cucumber. The fruit should be firm, like a cucumber. And it tastes very bitter. Although the seeds, leaves, and vines of Bitter Melon have all been used, the fruit is the safest and most prevalent part of the plant used medicinally. The leaves and fruit have both been used occasionally to make teas and beer, or to season soups in the Western world.

Bitter Melon was traditionally used for a dazzling array of conditions by people in tropical regions. Numerous infections, cancer, leukemia, and diabetes are among the most common conditions it was believed to improve. Bitter Melon is reported to help in the treatment of diabetes and psoriasis. It has also been thought that Bitter Melon may help in the treatment of HIV, but the evidence thus far is too weak to even consider. The ripe fruit of Bitter Melon has been suggested to exhibit some remarkable anti-cancer effects, but there is absolutely no evidence that it can treat cancer. However, preliminary studies do appear to confirm that Bitter Melon may improve blood sugar control in people with adult-onset (type 2) diabetes.

The blood lowering action of the fresh juice of the unripe Bitter Melon has been confirmed in scientific studies in animals and humans. At least three different groups of constituents in Bitter Melon have been reported to have hypoglycemic (blood sugar lowering) or other actions of potential benefit in diabetes mellitus. These include a mixture of steroidal saponins known as charantin, insulin-like peptides, and alkaloids. It is still unclear which of these is most effective or if all three work together. Nonetheless, Bitter Melon preparations have been shown to significantly improve glucose tolerance without increasing blood insulin levels, and to improve fasting blood glucose levels.

Add Value To Your Business Offering And Enhance Profits

Chicago Brauhaus
Source: Flickr

A classic mistake a lot of new businesses make is to solely compete on price. By adding extra features to your offering it is often possible to charge higher prices.

Let’s say for example you are a small soft drinks manufacturer. What could you add that would allow you to charge higher prices? One idea might be to add some vitamins to your mixture or if it’s fruit juice – no added sugar. Another idea might be to use premium or novelty packaging.

Have you seen the lolly in a tube which children can open and shut? It is based on the lipstick concept which allows the children to have exactly the right amount protruding for maximum taste. A normal lolly might retail at a few cents whilst this one retails at around a dollar! Same product plus novel packaging equals much higher profit.

Another idea that aroused my interest was when a well known toothpaste manufacturer managed to increase the sales of their product by just increasing the size of the hole! They realised that their customers used to spread a line of toothpaste and when they increased the size of the aperture people carried on spreading the same length not realising that they were using more toothpaste!

Recently have you noticed that cans of beer & juice have wider apertures to allow us to gulp our drink quicker? You can now drink just as easily from a can as you would from a glass. Not all manufacturers have followed this example yet!

Have a look on the Internet and you will find that the best websites offer a lot of information for free. Some of them have a whole host of articles telling you how to do their job! Off course what they are really counting on is the fact that even if they show you how to do it you might not have the time or the inclination to do it! By explaining the processes involved it serves to show their expertise on the issue and means that you are more likely to become a customer.

By adding extra ingredients, improving packaging, offering free information and looking at how easy your product is to use can make all the difference between charging a cut throat price and making a little extra profit.

Toast Of The Town: Wine As A Preventative Medicine

Gadd
Source: Flickr

While not many of us look forward to taking our daily medication, some remedies are more palatably pleasing than others.
Among these, some preventative medicines for heart disease and some cancers, including red wine.

And while many are cheering the benefits of the robust beverage others are wondering if it’s really the toast of the town. And, according to experts, the answer is an unresounding yes and no.

They note that although wine offers many preventative powers against heart disease, some cancers, and inflammation cause by arthritis, these qualities are not intrinsic to the fruit of the vine.

Experts assert that while red wine (in moderation) “does” have health benefits, they are not any greater than those they can obtain via a hearty diet of antioxidants including fresh fruits such as red grapes, fresh squeezed grape juice, grape seed oil, deep green veggies, melons, pumpkin, squash, blueberries, peppers and other brightly-colored fruits and foods.

However, they “do,” note that the antioxidants in red wine may be more concentrated than in other foods due to the fermentation process. Yet, the concentrated levels may not be significant enough to make daily consumption recommended.

Also, health and nutrition experts note that there is also evidence that moderate amounts of other alcohol may be just as effective in boosting HDL (good) cholesterol. Still, they (the experts) assert that they remain reluctant to encourage people to start drinking in an effort to stay healthy (against heart disease and some cancers) because alcohol consumption may raise other risks and concerns. Among these, weight gain and addiction problems. Excessive drinking can also increase LDL (bad) cholesterol levels and also estrogen levels in women, which has been linked to increased risk of breast cancer.

For women who fancy white wine, beer and other types of alcohol, the “bad” news is that none possess the same preventative and protective powers as red wine, since all the antioxidants are found in the skin and seeds of the grapes. White wine is fermented without the skins of the grapes.

Women wine drinkers say experts can enjoy two to three ounces a day for the added antioxidant and benefits, but remember not to use it as an excuse to drink or in place of a healthy and balanced diet rich in preventative properties.

Prohibition of The United States

Stout - 33/100 X
Source: Flickr

The volstead act or (Prohibition act) took effect in 1920, in several states across america laws were already in place to try and stop the consumption of alcohol, these laws were in effect before the 18th amendment (volstead act, Prohibition act) was passed before congress.

Newyork was the 1st state to have any such laws passed in the year 1697. This law simply stated that all saloons and drinking establishments must close on a sunday as a sunday is revered as a day of rest and prayer and not drinking. Then in 1735, the government introduced its 1st state wide ban on alcohol in the state of georgia which absolutely failed and only lasted 7 years until 1742.

In 1851, they tried again to instill a ban on alcohol in maine, and this time it worked even better than they had hoped. By 1855, A dozen other states had joined Maine in becoming what is known as being “dry state”.

In 1880, after the Civil War, women joined the “dries” and it wasnt long before the temperance movement was a power to be noticed. The WCTU (Woman’s Christian Temperance Union)was formed and the Prohibition Party started gaining some serious weight.

By 1900, more than 50% of the continental united states had become dry. The prohibitionists thought they had the alcohol ban sortedand that there was no possible way for any person to get liquor into a dry state. Unfortunately for the dries, a loophole was found in the law, the postal service. Because the postal service was regulated by the federal government and not the state government, liquor could be mail ordered and shipped from a wet state.

This maddened the dries so in 1913, an Interstate Liquor Act was passed. This act effectively made it illegal for anyone to send liquor to any dry state by any means. which was actually a big loss for those trying to keep the liquor out as it gave rise to far more illegal methods of obtaining the alcohol as liquor distilleries were now in league with crime bosses.

In 1917, the 18th amendment was drawn up and it stated that it would now be illegal to buy ship or even manufacture liquor. This did not sit well with a lot of states so the amendment was debated in congress for a further 2 years. In 1920 33 states had declared themselves as dry and this meant a major victory for the prohibition party.

January 29, 1919. The 18th Amendment was ratified to make all hard liquor with an alcohol content over 40% (or 80 proof) be banned. Officially, it banned the “production, sale, or transporting of such alcoholic drinks.” this was support by many peopleas they thought that only hard liquor was to be banned and that it would be fine to enjoy a glass of wine with a meal or have a beer after work.

However, it wasnt until a year later, the Volstead Act (prohibion act) was passed. The Volstead Act completely banned all alcohol that had more than 1/2% alcohol content. This effectively banned all forms of alcoholic beverages, with the exception of course being non-alcoholic beers. After the 18th amendment was ratified, the Volstead Act was brought into the light by the Prohibition supporters. For most of the prohibition supports who only wanted a little wine or the odd beer felt as though they had been betrayed as they were left with nothing when the act was passed.

1 group of people that no one considered were the veterans of the 1st world war, these ex soldiers felt very betrayed returning home from fighting in the war. Most of them had been stationed in France and came to know how a moderate amount of aclohol could in many ways enhance the quality of life. Then coming home and finding out that the dries had won a total victory over alcohol added to the bitterness of the veterans disdain.

The fatal mistake with prohibition was to ban all types of alcohol, which lost the Prohibition Party almost 80% of its followers.

Prohibition lasted for 13 years in the US until in 1933 the 21st amendment was passed to offically end the ban on alcohol.

Below explains both the 18th Amendment and the Volstead act and also give the 21st Amendment which is stating the end of prohibition.

The 18th amendment

1. After one year from the ratification of this article the manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors within, the importation thereof into, or the exportation thereof from the United States and all territory subject to the jurisdiction thereof for beverage purposes is hereby prohibited.

2. The Congress and the several States shall have concurrent power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

3. This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by the legislatures of the several States, as provided in the Constitution, within seven years from the date of the submission hereof to the States by the Congress. The 21st amendment

1. The eighteenth article of amendment to the Constitution of the United States is hereby repealed.

2. The transportation or importation into any State, Territory, or possession of the United States for delivery or use therein of intoxicating liquors, in violation of the laws thereof, is hereby prohibited.

3. The article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by conventions in the several States, as provided in the Constitution, within seven years from the date of the submission hereof to the States by the Congress

The Tale of the Humble Popcorn

Salt Spring Island Ales
Source: Flickr

Corn pollen more than 80,000 years old was found in Mexico. Proper popcorn was known in China, Sumatra, and India for at least 5000 years. Popped popcorn and kernels 5600 years old were discovered in the “Bat Cave” in New Mexico in 1948-1950. Popcorn kernels – ready to pop – were unearthed in ancient Peruvian tombs. In a cave is southern Utah, fluffy, fresh looking, white popcorn was dated to 1000 years ago.

Popcorn was used by the Aztecs and Indians as a decorative motif in headdresses, necklaces, and ornaments on statues of divinities. In the 16th century, both Hernando Cortes (in Mexico) and Christopher Columbus (in the West Indies) described these unusual uses of the snack. Father Bernardino de Sahagun (1499-1590), a Franciscan priest with deep interest in Mexican culture, described a ritual in honor of the Aztec gods of fisheries:

“They scattered before him parched corn, called momochitl, a kind of corn which bursts when parched and discloses its contents and makes itself look like a very white flower; they said these were hailstones given to the god of water.”

French explorers in the early 17th century reported that the Iroquois Indians in the Great Lakes region drank popcorn beer and ate popcorn soup. In either 1621, or in 1630, popcorn was brought as a gift by the Indian Quadequina, brother of Chief Massasoit of the Wampanoag tribe, to the colonists in Plymouth, Massachusetts at their first Thanksgiving dinner in the new land.

This may be an apocryphal story but, in any case, it would not have been popcorn as we know it today. An oiled ear was held on a stick over an open fire and the popped kernels would be chewed off. Popcorn later served as a morning cereal, eaten with cream or milk. The colonists called it “popped corn”, “parching corn”, or “rice corn”.

Most of the world’s popcorn (“prairie gold”) is produced in Nebraska, Iowa and Indiana, in the United States. The kernel is a seed containing a plant embryo and its soft, starchy food. The seed is protected by a hard shell. Heating the kernel converts water held in the seed into pressurized steam which causes the kernel to pop and the starch to expand to 40 times its original size.

Online Sale Of Alcohol To Teens Worries Experts

Salt Spring Island Ales

Did you know that millions of children are buying alcohol online or know someone else underage who does? In spite of this dangerous new trend, states are moving to increase online wine sales even as they fail to monitor alcohol Web sites to enforce underage drinking laws. That’s the word from experts who say a growing number of teens have credit and debit cards that allow them to point, click and drink alcohol ordered anonymously off the Web.

According to the National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information, the Internet can act as a type of general store where computer users including teenagers can purchase almost anything-even beer, wine and liquor-without any age verification.

Results from a recent survey of 14-to-20-year-olds conducted by Teenage Research Unlimited (TRU) for the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America, Inc. (WSWA) indicate the following:

• Half a million minors ages 14-20 (2%) admit ordering alcohol online themselves, and 3.1 million (12%) report having a friend who does it.

• Nearly one in 10 (9%) say they have visited a Web site that sells alcohol. One-third-nearly 8.9 million ages 14-20 nationwide-are open to the possibility of an online alcohol purchase before age 21.

• Seventy-five percent say their parents aren’t able to control what they do on the Internet.

Advocates believe there should be stiffer penalties for overnight delivery companies that break the law and states need more resources to monitor online alcohol activity.

“We know kids are buying alcohol online, we know states are allowing more Internet wine sales and we know states are not doing even basic monitoring or enforcement of these purchases,” WSWA CEO Juanita Duggan said.

She believes that if states aren’t encouraged to take action to stop online alcohol sales, parents will have missed an opportunity to stop the trend of Internet alcohol sales to children.

Duggan and local wine and spirits distributors encourage parents to let elected officials and regulatory agencies know how they feel about this issue.

Some say until state and local governments act, the burden falls on parents to be advocates and to make sure they are making the most of the preventive measures at their disposal.

Organic pest control

In our opinion pests are a part of nature and should be tolerated, they add to your gardens diversity, organic flowers by definition, will not be like the blemish free supermarket produce that are odorless. Organic flowers will have beautiful flagrances and sweet aromas that you will love.

However there are a few useful tips if you really must get rid of those pesky buggers
One of the best solutions is to buy or lure ladybirds (ladybugs) to spread throughout your garden. Ladybirds are particularly fond of the following plants that you can add to your garden, fennel, dill, cilantro, caraway, angelica, tansy, wild carrot & yarrow.

Ants and termites

You can kill these with an old fashioned trick, boiling water

Aphids

Gardeners best friend the ladybird also try organic insecticidal soap

Caterpillars

Hand pick off individual flowers or try using the organic derris pesticide

Slugs and snails

Another old fashioned trick that does work, set up traps containing beer, barriers can also be helpful

Organic disease control

Most of the diseases are fairly simple to deal with, It is always sensible to try to prevent the diseases from taking hold and spreading in the first place, rather than treating them when they occur.
You can treat black spot a common fungal disease of roses by pruning the bush roses into a goblet shape, use disease resistant cultivars and dust affected plants with sulphur
A new all-round concentrate, serenade garden disease control is an excellent, economical alternative for gardeners, this organic fungicide provides effective disease control against many important garden problems such as mildews, molds, blights, leaf spots, rusts, whilst protecting roses and other flower varieties.

Beneficial predators in your garden
The best way to protect your flowers and promote healthy growth in your garden is to introduce or lure beneficial predators, a good way of doing this is to section a part of your garden off for a natural area containing a pond. Let natural weeds and plants grow here and do not prune, cut or tidy.
List of beneficial predators
Anthocorid bug, Bats, Birds, Centipedes, Earwigs, Frogs, Toads and newts, Beetles, harvestman, Hedgehogs, Hoverflies, Lacewings, Ladybirds (ladybugs), Mites, Nematodes, Parasitic wasps, Slow worm, Spiders, Tachinid flies and Wasps.

Why Take A Tobago Vacation

Night Shift
Source: Flickr

A Tobago vacation is something special, wherever you go, there will be aTobago beach just right for you, and wherever you choose to stay there will be a Tobago resort, Tobago Hotel, or a Tobago villa that is just right for you.

So what will you find when you go to Tobago on your Tobago vacation.

There is no doubt you will find picture postcard beaches with beautiful coral reefs containing some incredible wildlife including Manta Rays and giant Turtles.

Tobago is situated in the South Caribbean Sea being just 8 miles wide and 26 miles long, just north east of the island of Trinidad, and South East of Grenada. It is blessed with great weather and it doesn’t suffer from hurricanes being south of the hurricane belt. This makes it small enough that you can explore all the island in a couple of days, but not so small as to be claustrophobic.

When you explore Tobago you will find the locals are incredibly friendly, and you feel very safe. As you travel around Tobago you will find lovely uncommercialized little hamlets and villages with a background of either dense forest, calm blue Caribbean Sea or steep hillsides.

So what exactly has Tobago got that the rest of the Caribbean doesn’t have?

You won’t get dozens of five star glitzy resorts, nor will you get nightlife, so if that is what you want a Tobago vacation is not for you.

The pace of life in Tobago is a cross between slow and even slower!! Tobago is a place to chill out, so just arrive, sit back and relax!!

People who have taken a Tobago vacation will tell you that even as they step off the plane, they can feel the stress just slip away almost immediately. All you will see are huge broad smiles from the taxi driver to your hotel receptionist. On the way you will see the turquoise blue Caribbean, then either a cold Carib beer or a rum punch on arrival at your destination, where the best thing of all is that Tobago makes you feel welcome.

A Tobago vacation is a one off, this is unlike anywhere else in the world, and the number of repeat visitors is evidence of that.

How Whiskey Is Made

Burger - Premium Flyer PSD Template
Source: Flickr

Every country has a different approach to making whisky, which will be discussed in detail at the beginning of each chapter.
However, all are basically variations on the following rules.

Whisky is made from a cereal; some (or all) of it malted, that has been ground into a rough flour then mashed by passing hot water through the flour to extract a sweet liquid. This is cooled, yeast is added and the mixture ferments, turning into a crude beer. This is then distilled in either a pot or a column still. Because alcohol boils at a lower temperature than water, the alcohol vapours are released first. These are condensed into a clear, strong spirit which is then aged in oak casks.

Malt whisky is made exclusively from malted barley and is distilled twice (or occasionally three times) in pot stills. It is then aged in used oak casks for a minimum of three years. Grain whisky is made from either corn or wheat, with some malted barley. It is distilled in a column still to produce a lighter spirit with a high degree of alcohol, and aged in used casks for a minimum of three years. Blended scotch is a combination of grain and malt whisky.

Irish whiskey can be made in a number of styles. Pure pot still, using malted and/or unmalted barley; a mix of pot and column still, and all column still. It, too, must be aged in used casks for three years. American whiskey (bourbon) must be made from a minimum 51 per cent corn, to which can be added wheat, malted barley and rye. It is distilled in either a single column still, a column still with a second still called a ‘doublet’, or in pot stills. Tennessee whiskey must also be filtered through a bed of charcoal. All American produced whiskey must be aged in new charred-oak casks.

Canadian whisky is a blend of whiskies most commonly made in column stills from wheat, corn, barley and rye (either singly or combined), and must be aged for a minimum of three years in used oak casks. Canadian distillers are allowed to add up to 9.09 per cent of other mature spirits (Cognac, rum, bourbon, malt, sherry) to the final blend.

Bench and beer
Source: Flickr

The scoop on ice cream is that it’s an excellent choice for simple, delicious and, if desired, elegant entertaining. Whether it’s a birthday, graduation, summer holiday or family celebration, ice cream and novelties can make any occasion special.

Sundaes, root beer floats, banana splits, milkshakes and ice cream cones are always popular favorites. Serve an ice cream cake for a birthday or holiday celebration and see your guests smile. Add a scoop of ice cream on warm apple pie and you will delight everyone at the table. Serving ideas for ice cream are only limited by your imagination.

Other popular entertaining ideas, particularly for children, are the many novelties selections in the frozen food aisle. Novelties are separately packaged single servings of a frozen dessert, such as ice cream sandwiches, fudge sticks and juice bars. Today’s novelties offer fun, tasty, convenient dessert options for you, your family and guests.

June and July of each year mark the annual Ice Cream & Novelties Promotion, sponsored by the National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association (NFRA). That’s when you will find special promotions and prices on your favorite summer treats.

NFRA has these suggestions on storing and handling ice cream and novelties:

• Make the ice cream aisle your last stop.

• Put ice cream products in a separate section of the grocery cart or place on top of other groceries.

• When your groceries are packed, request a freezer bag or additional brown paper bag to insulate your ice cream for the ride home.

• At home, don’t allow the ice cream to repeatedly soften and refreeze.

• Store ice cream in the main part of the freezer, not on the door, where it is subject to more fluctuating temperatures.

Here is an elegant yet simple dessert for your summertime entertaining.

Peaches & Cream Shake

16 oz Frozen Sliced Peaches

1 cup Frozen Non-Dairy Creamer, thawed

1 large scoop Vanilla Ice Cream or Frozen Yogurt

1/4 tsp. vanilla

Place all ingredients in a blender and process on high for 1-2 minutes, or until well-blended. Pour into serving glasses and garnish with a peach slice.

During June and July, you can play Family Freezer Pleasers Online Instant Win Game.

What’s Thanksgiving Without Pumpkin Pie?

Bucaneer Cuban Beer
Source: Flickr

Pumpkin pie is standard fare at most Thanksgiving feasts.
Many of us look forward to eating it for dessert once a year. However, if you are tired of that thick, sweet piece of pie at the end of this already-filling meal, consider these interesting alternatives.

Pumpkin is a very nutritious fruit — not a vegetable as most of us believe. Its scientific name is “cucurbita maxima,” which reflects the possibility of its “maximum” size. In fact, The World Pumpkin Federation reports the largest pumpkin ever grown weighed more than 1,000 pounds! There are about 26 varieties of pumpkin, ranging in color from bright orange to pale yellow and green.

You can find pumpkin mixed into soups, salads, main dishes, desserts (other than pies) and even drinks. Here are a few different ideas to get your culinary juices flowing: pumpkin soup, pumpkin ravioli, pumpkin-chicken chili, pumpkin risotto, pumpkin ice cream, pumpkin muffins, scones, cookies, bars and breads, pumpkin butter, pumpkin-pecan cheesecake, pumpkin beer, pumpkin fudge, and pumpkin creme brulee. Recipes for these and many other pumpkin dishes are plentiful and readily available at your favorite online recipe site when you put “pumpkin” in the search box provided by the site.

And, if you want to start a new pumpkin tradition, roasted pumpkin seeds are easy-to–make and not as time-consuming as baking a pumpkin pie. It is a fun multi-generational activity which can be enjoyed by children all the way up to senior citizens as your Thanksgiving Day unfolds. Here are step-by-step directions: Rinse the seeds in cold water and remove the pulp and fibers, then drain and blot dry. Coat pumpkin seeds with melted butter or vegetable oil and sprinkle lightly with salt or your favorite seasoning. Spread them on a baking sheet and roast at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 20-30 minutes or until golden brown. One four pound pumpkin will yield approximately two cups of seeds.

If you roast some of the seeds and plant others, next year you will have your very own pumpkin patch. Then you can select from pumpkins you have grown for use in recipes, thereby starting another tradition for you and your family!

Bloody Mary Recipe Contest Attempts to Set World Record

Bier - brouwdag

Creating the perfect Bloody Mary cocktail is a lot like nurturing a fine wine. It takes time, creativity and experimentation until the ingredients are just right. But once those elements come together, it’s pure bliss for the creator and those lucky enough to share a sip of their secret concoction.

There are countless Bloody Mary recipes, which is what makes this cocktail one of the most celebrated around the world. Depending on where your travels lead, you will find everything from horseradish and hot sauce to wasabi, jalapeno peppers and prawns in the mix. The only common ingredient in every recipe (besides vodka) is passion from those who create and consume this time-tested cocktail.

“The recipes for a Bloody Mary cocktail are like snowflakes – no two are alike,” said Jennie Meador, a spokesperson for Finlandia Vodka and judge for the brand’s annual Bloody Mary recipe contest. “Everyone thinks their recipe is the best, which is why we bring people together once a year and learn about the different approaches being taken to the cocktail.”

Finlandia Vodka is now accepting recipes for its annual Bloody Mary recipe contest. This year, Finlandia is looking for recipes that have unique ingredients that make your Bloody Mary a one-of-a-kind cocktail. The grand-prize winner will receive $1,000 and special recognition when Finlandia attempts to create the world’s largest Bloody Mary cocktail.

“What better way to celebrate the Bloody Mary than by creating the world’s largest glass of it?” Meador said. “Whoever wins this year’s contest may get to work with our mixologists to calculate their recipe into the world’s largest Bloody Mary. And then, of course, we’ll all have to help drink it.”

The Bloody Mary cocktail has experienced a resurgence in recent years. Once thought of as only for brunch, it is now served throughout the day at bars, restaurants and in people’s homes.

The Bloody Mary was first created in 1930 and became a true classic cocktail among Americans. It’s the second-most consumed drink besides beer at tailgates and sports gatherings today, making vodka a popular spirit for entertaining or celebrating.

Refreshing Drink Recipes To Perk Up Parties

Church Bar 12th Nov 2016 (25 of 178)

The weather is getting warmer, which means the party scene is about to heat up.
Welcome the season by building up your bartending repertoire with light, fruity cocktails.

Whether planning a luau, cocktail party or a little get-together with friends, a well-stocked bar is particularly important. For parties, make sure you have plenty of ice, about a pound for each guest, as most spring and summer drinks are served on the rocks or with crushed ice.

Having a few essentials on hand is key: A basic bar includes vodka, whiskey, wines and beer. If you’re feeling more adventurous or creative, you can also add gin, tequila, rum, bourbon, vermouth, sherry and brandy.

Mixers add a dash of flavor, or in some cases spice, to a summery cocktail. Orange juice, seltzer, tonic water, cola, ginger ale, tomato juice, Tabasco sauce, horseradish and Worcestershire will wake up your drink recipes.

Another great addition to your bar is Hair of the Dog, which has a light raspberry taste that can jazz up any drink. Using Hair of the Dog as a mixer will make a tasty drink that includes detoxifying ingredients to help the liver better process toxins. Thus it helps to counteract the negative effects of alcohol on the body. The sugar-free version also has no carbs.

Finish off your drinks with sliced lemons, limes, oranges or maraschino cherries. A curl of lemon peel can make an attractive finishing touch.

Try these recipes using sugar-free Hair of the Dog for a diet-friendly twist on familiar drinks:

Caribbean Dog

1 shot Malibu Rum

1 can Hair of the Dog

Blend ingredients with ice, then serve in a tall glass. Float a 1/2 shot of Chambord in the glass and garnish with an orange slice and a cherry.

Tex Mex Dog

(Hair of the Dog’s version of the margarita has fewer carbs -; approximately 40 grams less than traditional margarita mixes.)

1 1/4 shot tequila

3/4 shot triple sec

3/4 shot Grand Marnier

1/2 can Hair of the Dog

Combine ingredients and serve over ice in a glass with a salted rim. Garnish with a slice of lime.

The Coffee Beverage Chicago Style

Bier - brouwdag
Source: Flickr

Coffee used to be just coffee. You used to have a choice of either black or white, with or without caffeine. Today when you decide which coffee beverage to indulge in choosing a coffee beverage can be very confusing. Some of your choices may be: an Espresso, a Latte, Mocha, an Iced coffee, or a Cappuccino. In Chicago they have a very strong special coffee which is very popular amongst the locals which is called Intelligencia coffee. It is a very potent coffee which is full of flavour and can be purchased almost anywhere even at gas stations and convenience stores. The best coffee house in my opinion is in Illinois and can be found at 3123 North Broadway Street.

The History Of The Cup Of Coffee

The coffee beverage was first consumed back in 1000A.D. but the first coffee shop didn’t open until the year 1475. In 1601 coffee finally made it to North America. In the year 1668 the coffee beverage became New York’s favorite breakfast beverage in place of beer and is now know around the world as a breakfast drink that can be enjoyed at any time of the day.

You can buy coffee beans and grind them yourself or you can but them packaged already ground for you. The coffee beverage is also available in single packs much like tea bags, for those who don’t want to wait for the coffee beverage to brew, there are instant granules. There are also powdered versions of cappuccinos as well.

There can be a few factors to consider when choosing the best coffee. Depending on your mood, the time of day and where you are will help you get your coffee fix. If your in a hurry and don’t have time to stop in a gourmet coffee shop then you might want to go to a drive thru which can be found in coffee house in Chicago. There you will get the tried and true coffee beverage. Here are a couple of Chicago coffee houses you could try.

6 Corners Coffee Shop
4022 N Milwaukee

Bridgeport Coffee House
3100 S Morgan

Metropolis
