Getting older is something that everyone will experience at some time or another, but there’s a lot that you can do to make sure that you don’t age as quickly and feel better as you age.
Read on for some tips on staving off the aging process so that you can have a better old age.

Exercise can improve the aging process. As we get older, our muscle mass naturally declines, making everyday activities more difficult and reducing the number of calories we burn. While aerobic exercise helps maintain muscle mass and control weight, resistance exercise has the added benefit of helping maintain bone mass.

Be sure that you are drinking plenty of water in order to avoid skin problems from aging. Water is good for skin of all ages, but for people getting older, it also helps prevent wrinkles and age spots. You should also watch what you eat. Stay away from foods with too much fat.

Periodically assess your ability to drive. You may be able to drive well into old age as long as you periodically monitor your ability to do so. Have your eyes and ears checked, don’t drive at night if it makes you uncomfortable and make sure your medications don’t affect your driving.

Go easy on alcohol. Moderate drinking has been claimed to lower the risk of heart problems and other ailments. For older people, “moderate” means one drink for men and half a drink for women a day. A “drink” is defined as either 12 ounces of beer, 6 ounces of wine, or 1 ounce of hard liquor. To avoid drug interactions, ask your doctor if any alcohol is safe.

Make sure that when you are eating, you are putting essential fatty acids into your body. These are imperative for cell growth and maintaining the proper blood pressure so you are not at risk for any diseases. Also, essential fatty acids can go a long way in improving your cholesterol level and reducing aging symptoms.

Having your blood pressure checked on a regular basis is a necessity to living longer and keeping healthy. Many people are unaware of their high blood pressure, yet it is a significant risk factor in stroke, heart disease, and kidney disease. If you are found to have high blood pressure take your medications that are prescribed; exercise, quit smoking, and maintain proper body weight to reduce your risks.

Using olive oil is a key to keep your body looking and feeling young. Olive oil is a versatile, delicious and healthy way to reap the benefits of good oil for your body. Over the years, oils have gotten a bad rap from nutritionists, but oils are essential for keeping a body healthy.
