The region of the Costa Blanca Spain is one of the most popular tourist destinations, and Benidorm is at the heart of this region. Benidorm is 45 kilometers east of Alicante, another popular destination, and it really hops during the summer season. With thirty discos and a thousand restaurants, it is no wonder it is so popular. Many vacationers from the U.K. and Ireland find this the ideal place for sun and fun.
You can choose among many attractions in Benidorm. Try the Castle of Conde de Alfaz for a wonderful dinner show of jousting knights. To make it even more fun, you can choose a knight’s “colors” to support. While the jousting, with all of the armor, fencing and swordplay that entails goes on, you can enjoy a medieval dinner of soup, roasted meats and potatoes. Sangria and beer are served and to top it off, a dessert of ice cream.
Benidorm Palace also offers a spectacular floor show. Every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, they hold a dinner show that features dancing and singing, as well as comedy and magic acts.
Most people prefer to spend their days lying on Benidorm’s fabulous beaches. If you like a beach with a lot of action, you should visit Playa de Poniente. Since it is on the main road, it is easy to get to and therefore gets lots of visitors. If you like something a little quieter, you can relax on Playa de Levane.
When you do tire of the sand and the sun, there is still plenty to do. There is a popular water park called Aqualandia, with waterslides, swimming pools, a river ride and large slides such as the Zig Zag and the Kamikaze. You can gather from the name they are not for the little ones. But they do have an Adventureland areas that is perfect for them, with smaller slides, fountains, pools and even a labyrinth.
Another theme park to visit is the Terra Mitica. This one specializes in Ancient History, and each of its areas features a different civilization. The legends and stories from each area is featured in displays, and they each have restaurants that specialize in the foods of that areas. The shops continue the theme by offering souvenirs reminiscent of the area, so you will be able to buy candles from Iberia, Greek statues or an Egyptian papyrus.
Mundomar Aquatic Park is a great park for families. You and your children will learn all about marine mammals and how they adapt. They have shows with seals and sea lions performing. There is a large number of dolphins who not only call this park home, but have even been born there. Visit the galleon and from the inside of it, you watch the dolphins playing in the water. And there are many species of penguins for you to view and enjoy. There is a park section in Mundomar for the children with slides and swings to play on and ramps, nets and bridges to jump over and rock climbing wall.
